For the contemporary music ensemble Insomnio we set up a three-day improvisationworkshop together with composer Anne Laberge. The well-known and succesful ensemble is trained in interpreting and performing work from contemporary composers. This workshop positioned the ensemble literary in an contemporary architectural setting, a exhibition small architectural objects called 'paradis parasites'. Within this experimental setting we asked the musicians to leave behind their trusted scores and theater settings and react directly to their surroundings. They had the interprete the architecture through a performance of improvised music. Two totally new conditiond for the ensemble to work in, offering them a platform to renew their knowledge and experience of performance, stage, audience and eachother. |
