The Blitz Beton Ateliers is a series of projects initiated by the ENCI and bureaubakker to enhance the relationship between the Dutch concrete (cement) industry and various architecture schools. The aim is to fascinate future prescribers of the material for the possibilities of concrete within their practices. They are also clearly an addition to exsiting curriclula in the sense that students are invited to start a design process from the material properties. Instead of dealing with 'materialization' or 'detailing' as filling in formal solutions from conceptual, programmatical or socially structured design processes, material results drives the process in the Ateliers. The industry is capable to facilitate resources that are difficult for traditional schools to offer, thus making it possible to experiment with the real materials on large scale and with expert support.

Our role in these ateliers started from its conception and includes its promotion to schools, preparing and coordinating the ateliers and tutoring the students.
