Ateliers are pragmatic interventions in academic programs. They are fully embedded within existing curricula of different schools and offer unique collaborations between the academic realm and commercial, governmental and industrial stakeholders. The strength and facilities of all involved entities is fully employed into hands-on and result-driven educational projects. Programmed as one-day events, three-day events or a series of half-day session spread over a semester, these events compliment design and research studios. Each atelier is tailored to the theme, context and schedule of its 'host' project. When working in collaboration with a specific material user or producer, like the Blitz Beton Ateliers with ENCI, they include a material research component. Those are aimed to jumpstart a specific design focus from a material basis or to further explore the potential of a generic or explicit assignment. The format and expectations of the Blitz Beton Ateliers are similar to the Blitz Beton Workshops; 'hands-on' experience in scale 1:1. And they are driven by the properties of the given materials, ranging from material consistency to manufacturing techniques and esthetics. |
